The High Line

The High Line is a 1.5 mile elevated trainline that runs through the meatpacking dsitrict of Manhattan. Built in the 30s, it has been abandoned for decades. Property developers have been lobbying for its destruction for years, but activists are pushing for it to be converted into an elevated park, much like the Promenade PlantÔøΩe in Paris.
I walked the length of it one rainy day and found wild flowers thriving. Apart from the thrill of sneaking past security and police to get up there, it was amazing to feel so separated from the rest of the city. It was very tranquil.
