Olafur Eliasson’s Tate Modern Weather Project

tate_sun.jpg

I’ve posted a couple of photos from this location before, but I returned for this shot armed with my medium format camera for better quality (the negative is about the same size as the photograph on screen).

For any photographers out there who may be interested, below is a crop comparison between the amazing Leica 35mm f2 Summicron lens and the less well known Plaubel Makina 67 Nikkor 80mm, both shot on Tri-x. Film format will almost always trump lens quality…

I’ve added a Polaroid SX-70 Manipulation section to my regular gallery site. Comments are always welcome. You can read about how they are made in this article.

Dave Gorman’s Googlewhack Adventure

Tonight I saw the hilarious Dave Gorman’s Googlewhack Adventure peformance at London’s Hammersmith Apollo. I won’t go into the details of what constitutes a Googlewhack, except to say that I spent 20 pounds (US$30) to listen to a man talk about them for two hours. What place does this have on a website about photography, especially when I don’t even have a photograph of Dave Gorman? Not much.

It is, however, an opportunity for me to list some of the ridiculous ways people arrive at this site. Presented not as Disturbing Search Requests but rather as further proof that Google is broken, the premier search engine of the entire planet considers me as one of the most valuable resources for
Leg Bone (#4 of 600,000)
Black Israelites (#1 of 48,200)
Martin Luther King III (#11 of 217,000)
Wollman Ice Rink (#1 of 1410)
White Dreadlocks (#3 of 22400)
Black Dreadlocks (#11 of 30,900)
Bruce Gilden, Magnum photographer (#2 of 3650)

And yet, this website is not even in the first 1000 listed under Black and White Photography.
