The Sultan’s Elephant
The Sultan, his 40ft elephant, and a 16ft giant little girl have just completed a 4 day tour of London. It climaxed on Sunday with what I would estimate as 100,000-200,000 people on the streets chasing the characters. This was the product of a French theatre group. Still recovering from a broken arm, I could do little but set my camera to f8, 1/500s, and 3m focus and hope for the best, but the roll out I took came out quite well. I tried to capture some of the action and ‘liveness’ of the puppets. Surreal (and free!) events like this are what makes London great, incomparable even.
